CFS - "CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME"

   Since "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)" is a medically incorrect and trivializing label for this very serious NEUROLOGIC DISORDER caused by an OUT-OF-CONTROL IMMUNE SYSTEM, it became alternatively known as "Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS)".  That, tho' a bit more accurate, still retained the pejorative "fatigue" word. 

   Thus, a whole new generation of CFS/CFIDS sufferers have rightly focused on the DIRE, RELAPSING IMMUNE SYSTEM ATTACKS
on the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM characteristic of this severe
illness.  With the Brain (encephalon) and the Spinal Cord (myelin sheath) the known targets of these immune system assaults, "Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)" became accepted worldwide as the more accurate medical label for what was once dismissed as neurotic "fatigue" or even "depression". 

   Too many psychiatrists and psychologists have imposed themselves
on the fields of Immunology and Neurology, making a pretty penny from a distinctly grave, multifactorial physiologic disease.

   Therefore, to share the research and bring you up to date on what is
known, so far, about ME, what I in the title of my 1992 CFS book subtitled DEBILITATING IMMUNOPATHIC RELAPSING ENCEPHALOMYELITIS (DIRE) describing this awful condition in greater detail by emphasizing its debilifying, immune-origin, and relapsing elements not featured in the simple ME designation...
